Privacy Policy

The short version
Journeybook is a local-first travel planner. Your trips and stops live in your browser by default — we never see them. If you create an account, your data syncs to our servers so you can access it across devices, but it is still yours and we do not sell, share, or use it for advertising.
What we store and where
Without an account
All trip data — destinations, stops, dates, notes, and photos — is stored exclusively in your browser's IndexedDB. Nothing leaves your device. Clearing your browser data or using a different browser starts fresh.
With an account (optional sync)
When you sign in, your trips and stops are synced to our Supabase database so they are available on all your devices. Your email address is stored for authentication only — we do not use it for marketing without your explicit consent. Photos you upload are stored in Supabase Storage and are private to your account.
When you create an account on the website, we also save the site or link that first brought you here (for example google.com, or a campaign tag on a link) and, if you choose to answer, how you heard about Journeybook. Nothing else about your browsing, and the iPhone and Android apps don't collect it.
Document import (AI feature)
When you import a trip from a PDF or image, the file is sent to a secure server-side function that uses Claude (Anthropic) to extract itinerary data. The file is processed in memory and is not retained after the response is returned. This feature requires you to be signed in.
What we do not collect
- We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. The website (never the iPhone or Android app) counts page visits with our own self-hosted, cookieless counter — no personal data, no cross-site tracking.
- We do not run ads or share data with advertisers.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not collect device identifiers, location in the background, or usage telemetry.
Your rights and controls
Delete local data — Go to Profile → "Clear all data" to wipe everything from your device instantly.
Export your data — Go to Profile → "Export everything as JSON" to download a full copy of your trips and stops at any time.
Delete your account — See the account deletion page for how to delete your account and all synced data, or contact us at info@myrmidondigital.com. We will process the request within 30 days.
Third-party services
Supabase — Authentication and database hosting. Located in the EU. Subject to Supabase's own privacy policy.
Anthropic (Claude) — Used server-side for document import only. Files are not stored by Anthropic beyond the duration of the API request. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Foursquare — Used server-side to search for venues and fetch their public details (address, hours, phone, rating). Searches send your search text and the trip's approximate coordinates; no personal data and no account identifier are sent. See Foursquare's privacy policy.
OpenFreeMap / Photon / Wikipedia / OpenSky — Free community mapping, reference and flight data services. Queries may include a destination name or coordinates; no personal data is sent.
Netlify — Hosts the web app. Standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp) are retained per Netlify's default policy.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify signed-in users by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
